The STUP Award

Democratic National Committee

CSW 08-06

When Howard Dean, the Democratic National Committee chairman, authored some really lame-brained, disenfranchising, punitive primary election rules for Florida and Michigan, his perspicacity quotient was at zero. Little did he think that when he took away the voice of the people of the two states, that it would come back to haunt the dems big time.

The democrats were trying to be cute when the DNC punished Florida and Michigan for holding an early primary. The punishment consisted of disregarding the people's votes and banning the resultant delegates from participating in the national convention to select the dems ultimate presidential candidate. In other words, Howard Dean said, "to hell with the voters in Florida and Michigan, they don't matter!"

Recall the 2000 contest between Bush and Gore when the dems were on the verge of hari-kari and crying foul because they felt not everyone in Florida was being given a chance to let his/her vote count? They accused President Bush of "stealing the election" and the election was "unfair." Many of us heard the word "disenfranchised" for the first time. Were they unfounded accusations by the dems? Absolutely, but the accusations were made none the less. In this case the accusations are factual. The dems blew it.

Congrats DNC. There is no disenfranchisement here. You won the STUP Award unanimously.
