With All Due Respect, That's Really Stupid

The STUP Award

Senator Robert Byrd

CSW 08-12

During this hotly contested democratic primary the super delegates have been extolling how fair they are and will support the will of the people at the convention.

Hillary Clinton stomped all over Barack H. Obama in the West Virginia primary 67% to 26%. You would surmise, therefore, that the West Virginia "super delegates" would endorse Hillary, right? Wrong! Although his constituents gave Hillary a 2 to 1 victory, age old (90) senator Robert Byrd (D-WV) extended his middle digit to the voters and endorsed Barack Obama.

Byrd, a former member of the KKK said Obama was, "a shining young statesman, who possesses the personal temperament and courage necessary to extricate our country from this costly misadventure in Iraq." Hmmm, do you think this could be another "forgive my past transgressions, messiah, here's my vote" type situation?

Regardless of his rationalizations, we hope Byrd's conscience is clear. Byrd rejected the will of the people for the sake of political expediency and personal soul cleansing and that has earned Mr. Byrd the STUP Award.
