U.S. Supreme Court Detainee Decision

CSW 08-15

In a frightening 5-4 decision the U.S. Supreme Court ruled Thursday, 6/12/08 that prisoners caught in the "war on terror" and imprisoned in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, must be given the constitutional protection of habeas corpus.

Here's the easy definition of habeas corpus:

A writ (a court order) of habeas corpus (Latin, You have the body) directs a person, usually a prison warden, to produce the prisoner in a court of law and justify the prisoner's detention. If the prisoner argues successfully that the incarceration is in violation of a constitutional right, the court (the judge) may order the prisoner's release.

In other words, the non-uniformed, non-American combatants and killers of American soldiers and civilians alike must be given lawyers and afforded their day in a U.S. court to argue why they shouldn't be imprisoned. The Muslim radicals trying to destroy the United States along with the fabric of our basic freedoms (the Constitution) are now being protected by the very thing they are trying to destroy. And the liberal Supreme Court has made it all possible, legal, and required. This is really frightening. CSW warned about this happening in an article five years ago. We felt the cold, swift, perverted winds of liberalism blowing in.

In the democrats' typical "hate Bush" fashion, Senator Joe "STUP" Biden (D-DE) pounced immediately saying, "Today's opinion is an important and much-needed check ... on an administration which has shown utter contempt for the rule of law." Well shiver me timbers, another bleeding heart liberal on the side of the terrorists. Surprise, surprise. And the most liberal man in the senate, Barack H. Obama, a presidential wannabe, strongly supports the decision.
