For Years Joe Biden Lied And Smeared The Man Involved In The Accident That Killed His Wife And Daughter. What Does This Say About Him?
David A. Cook CoffeeShop Weekly, October 2019
The story about the 1972 accident that took the lives of Joe Biden’s wife Neilia Biden and his 13-month-old daughter is absolutely heart wrenching. This tragic tale is something that one would never wish on their worse enemy. The grief and pain that Senator Biden suffered and had to endure is beyond imagining. To this I think any rational person would agree. However, it was the rewriting and weaponizing of this story along with the intentional malice that Biden showed in doing it that is at the heart of this report.
On December 18, 1972, Neilia Biden, wife of newly elected senator Joe Biden, along with her 13-month-old daughter and her two sons left their home intent on buying a Christmas tree for the family. On the way there, the white station wagon they were in was broadsided by a tractor-trailer driven by Curtis C. Dunn. Instantly Nailia and their daughter, whom she was holding at the time, were killed, and the two boys sustain injuries requiring hospitalization. Dunn, in an attempt to miss hitting them, swerved the rig causing it to turn over. Dunn got out of the car and rush to provide whatever aid he could to those in the Biden vehicle. For all the years after the accident, the crash haunted Dunn until his death in 1999.
Joe Biden however, added some details to the story which he shared with a crowd stating: “A tractor-trailer, a guy who allegedly — and I never pursued it — drank his lunch instead of eating his lunch, broadsided my family and killed my wife instantly and killed my daughter instantly and hospitalized my two sons …” To the best of our knowledge Biden began making these types of statements about Dunn around 2001. He said in a speech at the University of Delaware in 2001 that “It was an errant driver who stopped to drink instead of drive and hit—a tractor-trailer—hit my children and my wife and killed them”. He told similar stories since then and he used it during the 2008 presidential campaign as Obama’s VP selection, and it has come up again during this current cycle as he runs for President again.
In addition to Biden making these claims, the allegations were pick up on and repeated on radio and television including prominent anchors such as Katie Couric. Politico ran a piece on this and even acknowledged that the story presented by Biden was without any merit, they titled their article "How Grief Became Joe Biden’s Superpower". Talk about an absence of moral reflection.

As reported by Guy Benson in TownHall,
“According to Delaware Superior Court Judge Jerome O. Herlihy, who oversaw the police investigation 36 years ago as chief prosecutor, there is no evidence supporting Biden’s claim...“The rumor about alcohol being involved by either party, especially the truck driver (Dunn), is incorrect,” Herlihy said recently. Police determined that Biden’s first wife drove into the path of Dunn’s tractor-trailer.
We do not know for certain if Neilia ran the stop sign or simply wasn’t paying attention when she drove into the busy intersection. What we do know is that Curtis Dunn did nothing wrong and was the first person to run to the aid of those in the station wagon he had just hit. For that Joe Biden decided with malice to stain the reputation of a man that had committed no crime and broke no law. Biden would do this for one reason, political gain. The Dunn family was devastated by the lie perpetrated against their father. But neither the Biden’s nor the press seemed to care. As reported by Jack Fowler of the National Review:
“This is truly disturbing. But by our current standards, hair-sniffing rates condemnation, while the false accusation of an innocent dead man, and the embellishment of a personal tragedy — could the Biden tragedy be more tragic? — are forgotten and/or ignored”.
Did Joe Biden suffer a major tragedy? Yes. Did Joe Biden proceed to embellish the tragedy and out right lie about Curtis Dunn? Yes. And what does that say about him as a man and someone wanting to lead our country. He is not acceptable at any level. He is disqualified. His word cannot be trusted. After all, this is not the only thing he has been caught lying about. He plagiarized a speech in 1988 forcing him to withdraw from the Democratic primaries. And then of course we have the story of him facing down the street thug “Corn Pop” in 1962 armed only with a six foot chain, while Corn Pop was accompanied by three other men each carrying razor blades. For a very amusing article on this incident check this out . We have his ever evolving story about a military person (can’t say which branch since every time he tells the story it changes) who propelled down into a ravine (anywhere from 30 to 200 feet depending on the day) to rescues a fallen warrior who was dead, but later rebuffed Biden when being given a metal for his heroic actions. Supporters of Biden say this is true in “essence”.
The point being this is who he is. He will say and do whatever it takes to accomplish what he wants and if that includes impugning a dead man’s character, then so be it. Calling him thoughtless or even cruel doesn’t seem to do justice to his actions in this specific case. These are the actions of a liar and a rancid soul.
